Ubuntu is free and open-source software (FOSS).

It is an alternative to Windows and macOS.

Tips

  • To check your Ubuntu version, run the command lsb_release -a
  • To find out which shell you're using, run the command echo $SHELL or ps $$
  • To list hardware specifications, type lshw at the Terminal
  • Other useful commands include lsblk , lscpu , and lsusb
  • fc-list | grep "DejaVu Sans" to list font cache
