Pikes Peak Makerspace was founded in 2014 as a program of the Manitou Arts Center to support a growing interest in 3D printing.  The focus of the<span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span> core group of founders was<span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span> on the 3D Delaney project, 3D printing a prosthetic hand for a young lady in Colorado Spr<span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span>ings. PPM gained a lot of t<span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span>ra<span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span>ction with the donation of <span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span>a 30 Watt Epilog Zing Laser, as well as a well planned publicity stunt where they hauled 3D printers to the top of Pikes <span data-stringify-type="paragraph-break" class="c-mrkdwn__br" aria-label=""></span>Peak to attempt to set a world record.
